How I handle nights out
Eat protein during the day
Don't starve yourself all day to "save" calories. Eat normal meals with plenty of protein so you don't end up hungry and grabbing everything at the party.
Pick smarter drinks
Spirits with soda water or a diet mixer cost far fewer calories than beer, sweet cocktails or regular cola. Have a glass of water between drinks.
Choose your food
Go for grilled starters like tikka, tandoori or prawn cocktail over fried ones like pakoras, onion rings and mozzarella sticks, and decide how much you'll eat before the plates start coming around.
Next day, back to normal
Expect the scale to jump 1–2 kg from salt, water and alcohol. It's not fat, and it drops in a few days. Just go back to your normal plan.
Calories are averages and vary by brand, recipe and pour size. Please drink responsibly, never drink and drive, and follow the legal drinking age where you live.
